Catching

This handsome fellow glided in ever so quietly as I was having my first cuppa in the garden this morning.  It wasn't at all bothered by my presence or Mirrhi crashing and banging along the river bank, enjoying the smells of overnight visitors....... it was just focused on catching it's breakfast.

Across the river, the white cockatoos are still massed in their overnight roosts, waiting to catch the first warming rays of the sun.
A different kind of catching!

Enjoy your day

  1. Awww, look at that face asking you to throw the ball... Your morning cuppa sounds nice and peaceful, and the mist looks cool. Still v hot up here, we're hovering around 29C all week.

    1. I know, who could resist that face....I think she'd already had it thrown a million times by then, and I'd only been out of bed half and hour lol Mornings are lovely and crisp, and a nice reprieve....but that mist says hot day on the way, and yes, still up around the high 20s here too.

  2. It must be amazing to see cockatoos in the trees like that - although I guess you are used to it - much better than seeing them in a cage :(

If I had all the hours back I have spent throwing a ball for my obsessive compulsive dog, Stan, I would have lots of time on my hands. It's what he lives for.

(Your F2F blocks from me are in the postal system now by the way so hopefully they should be with you in the next couple of weeks)

    1. I never get used to seeing the cockatoos Lyn, still stop to watch them wheeling and screeching in a great mob. Some mornings they do this wonderful low level flight along the top of the water, and with the sun turning their feathers golden, it's quite magical.
I taught Mirrhi "last one", so we have a stopping point.
I can't wait for your blocks, it's so exciting to be receiving little squishy packages.

  3. Nice to see something from you Nanette. How lovely that you can still sit in your garden first thing - mine is way too nippy now! Love that last shot of Mirrhi. What a sweetie! <3

    1. Thanks Pauline, it's been a busy time, and there always seems to be something to do other than blog. I feel like I'm getting on top of it now there, and life is beginning to feel more normal, so hopefully more posts. There's definite nip in the air in the mornings, but I enjoy it, knowing it's going to heat up quickly during the day. Mirrhi's a dear dog.

  4. We have a few cockatoos that visit our macadamia nut trees every day and drop them to the ground. I am not sure I will ever get used to their screeching as they certainly let you know they are around :-)

  5. I know, noisy things, aren't they? Luckily none of these come into my yard, there's plenty of food along the riverbank, so i can admire them from afar :)
