........and Scraphappy Day
So to scraps...... while digging out crumb blocks for the premmie quilts I was making here, I also found a few blue churn dash blocks I'd made for last years Rainbow Scrap Challenge, the start of a rainbow churn dash quilt. Well that didn't get far, there was the flood and 6 months of cleaning up, and a definite lack of enthusiasm for very much, so the churn dashes were forgotten. Until now.
I've decided to make them my 2018 Rainbow Scrap Challenge project this year, and so out came the purple scrap bin and work was begun tonight. My day was pretty busy with a rally and march a couple of us had organised to stop our rail line being ripped up, and replaced with a rail trail. This decision was made without any community consultation, and so a couple of hundred of us braved the afternoon heat and marched to the Council Offices to present our case to Council.
Nothing to do with scraps of course, except now, having prepared one churn dash block, I'm too tired to sew tonight, so here it is, ready for some cool, early morning sewing. Not sure how many of each colour I'll make, 6 probably, but they'll be a mix of light and dark backgrounds, and a variety of sizes.
......till next time.
Ive lost my stitchy mojo and my bloggy one too!
ReplyDeleteThat heat would likely cripple me lol
Hope your mojo reappears with spring Lyn. This heat cripples all of us, I think.
DeleteGood luck with your case before the Council. I can totally appreciate it being too hot and muggy to sew. We had weather like that when we lived in Texas. ugh! One scrap block a month is more than you'd get done otherwise so keep up the good effort!
ReplyDeleteWe had a small success with our rally, and the 6 months the Council have given the 'other camp' gives us time to rally harder and smarter. I think today's meant to be our last hot, hot day, a cool change coming...can't come soon enough.
DeleteWith those colors and fabrics it will be beautiful! Keep cool, and sew when you can.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's just about doing what you can and staying cool. Thanks for visiting, I've had a look at your scrappy heart, it's lovely.
DeleteNanette, I think we are now over the worst of the heat after 37C every day this week. So much for a cool temperate climate here. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI don't think our temps have got that high, but the humidity is nearly 100%, makes it feel so much worse. Hope you get some cooler days now.
DeleteStay cool Nanette. It sounds like the weather we have during our summer season. High temperature and high humidity- a terrible combination.
ReplyDeleteNo, we're not alone in having to put up with this sort of weather, it reminds me so much of being in India. We just wait and hope for a cool change, and I do have the air-con if I get desperate, although I'd much rather not use it.
DeleteI feel for you, it's much the same up here, but we're lucky that the caravan has aircon, so we're not totally brain-fried. Looking forward to seeing what your churn dashes look like when you're able to face sewing again.
ReplyDeleteI wondered how you were getting on, up there in the 'real tropics'. I put the air-con on in the afternoon for a couple of hours, just for some relief and to do some hand sewing, or just read and nap. I'm going to sew that one churn dash I cut last night now, then see how I feel about doing more. I'm pleased I have a plan, rather than making endless crummy blocks.
DeleteOh dear, that heat sounds terrible... and here I am, my little seaside city hasn't cracked anything over 34C yet this summer & is unlikely to get it, according to the weather experts...
